The terms and conditions set out below apply to all bookings made for any stay at De Kruis (and for any such stay) other than when a booking has been made via Perfect Hideaways and the terms and conditions agreed through Perfect Hideaways have effect. The terms and conditions set out below shall be governed by South African law and the courts of the Western Cape Division of the High Court of South Africa shall have exclsive jurisdiction over any matter arising out of or in connection with them.

Minimum stay

A minimum stay of 2 nights is required other than during the peak season (save that, for public holiday weekends, a minimum stay of 3 nights is required).

A minimum stay of 5 nights is required during the peak season from mid-December to mid-January annually.

Children

Families are most welcome at De Kruis.

We regret that we do not accommodate children under the age of 8 years (although small infants are welcome, and a camper cot can be provided by prior arrangement).

Pets

We regret no pets.

Smoking

We operate a strict no indoor smoking policy.

Check-in / Check-out

Check-in is from 15h00 and before sunset.
Check-out by 11h00.

It may be possible to vary these times by prior arrangement and we will do our utmost to assist guests where possible.

Payment terms

A 50% non-refundable rental deposit is required within 48 hours of making the booking.

The 50% balance of fees (along with damage deposit) is required 35 days before the date of check-in. If the booking is less than 35 days before the date of check-in, the full amount is payable.

We reserve the right to cancel a reservation if full payment terms are not adhered to.

Cancellation and refund policy

The initial 50% deposit payment and the 50% balance payment are not refundable. However, in the event of cancellation or shortening of stay, management may consider refunds where those days can be rebooked, after deducting any costs incurred with respect to the rebooking and preparation of the homestead.

Damages and liability

Guests are liable for any damage to the property, equipment or to the surrounding fauna and flora incurred by the guests, and/or the guests’ guests or visitors. 

The owner of De Kruis (Dr I M Boeddinghaus t/a De Kruis Farms) does not accept any responsibility whatsoever for any loss or damage to persons or property of the guests, and/or the guests’ guests or visitors and the premises are used entirely at the occupants’ own risk. 

Guests will be charged for damages caused by tampering with the household or farm systems. 

Breakages and damage, including stains and scratches (beyond normal wear and tear) will be deducted from the deposit if applied and, should the damage deposit not be sufficient to cover the damage, or not be applied, guests will be invoiced for the outstanding amount. 

No reservation is of any force and effect unless and until confirmed by us in writing.
